Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, celebrated on November 19, is a worldwide celebration of the creativity, resilience, and impact of women in business. Hyve is a woman-founded and woman-owned small business and here we get to learn a bit more about the woman behind it all, Shreya Patel.
What inspires you? Learning, change and growth. These are the three things that inspire me to "do different" every single day. I feel we can all be a better version of ourselves tomorrow than we were the day before depending on what we chose to learn, change and grow from on that day. This most often doesn't come in the form of an "overhaul," but is found in the minutiea of living life.
You have an extensive garden, what draws you to that space? The garden is a physical representation of evolvement and growth. It is so amazing to watch the fruit grow from a flower to tiny vegetable to fully grown and many to overripe when I don't get out there everyday. It is also so peaceful (but only when the skeeters aren't biting :-)). Psst..DIY bug spray recipe here!
When you aren’t working, what are you doing for YOU? Yoga. For me it is more than "exercise." It is a way for me to connect to root of who I am through the sanskrit words, to engage in the multiple limbs of yoga beyond the physical poses that I find settling to my soul, such as the breathing and the withdrawing from the senses. If I can get there, I love being in the mindspace of nothingness.
Favorite yoga pose? Trikonasana (triangle pose). It is a pose I am always working to perfect with the rotation of the chest to the sky to feel that deep stretch through the side body.
Best concert you’ve been to? Zach Brown bBand at an outdoor venue in Colorado.
Favorite place you’ve traveled? Japan because i love the culture, and our trip to Palawan in 2016 when it was still rustic. We were able to swim with the whale sharks 2 hours off the coast and sleep on the beach under the moonlight.
Bucket list vacation destination? This list is long, but at the top of the list is an ayurvedic panchakarma for 21 days in the Himalayas.
What is one fact about hyve that people may not know? It is a labor of love.
If you could collaborate with any other small business/brand, what would it be? @lindyegalloway. Her home designs are simple, clean and elevated and that is exactly what I think hyve brings to the the cleaning market.
